By George Mitchell

Skins are prone to many damages that is caused by lots of factors. One of which is hyperpigmentation or the darkening of some areas and parts of skin because of too much melanin. Melanin basically is the pigmentation that gives color to human eyes, hair and skin. Apparently, people that are dark skinned has more melanin than those who have light tone skins. To lighten this damages there are treatments that are made popular and also hyperpigmentation correction cream are invented to conceal and heal the most damaged areas.

The melanin is located on top most layer of every skin that is why people appear to have different tones and colors. This component is actually a natural protector of entire body from the harmful UV rays of sun. However, the longer the exposure to the sun, the more triggering is made to the melanocytes and that cause production of even more melanin. And, there goes the discoloration and unevenness of ones skin.

Having a tanned skin is merely a because of melanin, tough that is not the only effect that may happen. Most of it occurs over the years as the skins are aging. Patches are found on some areas that are usually exposed to harmful rays, these damages are often known as freckles or sun spots.

Not only sun are the mere reason of hyperpigmentation, acne marks, wounds and even burns could also cause such damage. Even hormonal fluctuations are basically to blame of discolorations. These are seen with melasma that causes some gray or brown patches usually on faces and neck.

There are many possible ways of trying to hide and permanently healing this. Others use make ups to cover those uneven spots but only temporarily. Unlike when treatments are done, there is big possibility to have the healthy skin once more. These treatments has different methods and classification according to the effectiveness of which.

Tropical suppressant as one type of treatment. This one basically is through the use of an acid which is called Kojic that is effective for whitening and controlling melanocytes from letting the melanin produce colors. It is often recommended with laser of a light therapy.

Another is chemical peels, this stimulates creation of newer skin cells that are healthier. The process would include stripping of outer layers removing the dead cells of skins. There is also is Microdermabrasion that works somewhat the same with the peels. This exfoliates the outer parts with a subtle spray of crystals.

The next one uses a light wavelength for the treatment. It is also known as Intense pulse light therapy wherein there are six treatments that has to be completed so that the skin will effectively heal the damage. This also is proven effective for the redness and could remove excess melanin.

Last but not least is laser resurfacing, this also uses wavelength of light but through laser beam which vaporizes the external layers. After that, it penetrates on internal layers and healing it there. For prevention, applying sunscreen as much as possible would be a great means of protecting skins.
